Why Termite Inspectors Tap Wood

One ‘pet peeve’ I have is inspectors who all but take a baseball bat to the baseboards and trim of a home to find termites. While tapping is an acceptable method of finding damaged wood, causing damage with harsh or uncaring probing is not. I shot a video the other day that illustrates how tapping works and when a gentle prod can clue you in to what is already there but not necessarily visible. Enjoy the video and I’d love to hear any feed back you may want to share.
