Government stimulus and pests

The pest control industry has no worries, we no longer need to spend money on lobbyists attend strategy meetings or ask for P.A.C. (political action committee) money because we have a life long friend in the White House. Yes President Barrack Obama himself has joined the pest control world and billions in stimulus money should be coming our way any time now. Hey the government has allocated some serious bucks our way.

Here’s just a few things that relate directly to the pest control industry;

$1.7 million “for a honey bee factory” in Weslaco, TX
$1 million for mormon cricket control in Utah
$650,000 for beaver management in North Carolina and Mississippi
$2.3 Million for Bug Research In Connecticut.
$6.6 million for Formosan subterranean termites
$300,000 FOR MAPPING RADIOACTIVE RABBIT FECES:
Preservation of an insect collection at North Carolina State: $253,123

Now I don’t know about you but money’s money right? Especially when it benefits something that directly affects your livelihood. Shouldn’tPicture 61 300x224 Government stimulus and pests we as an industry be jumping for joy right now? If you’re a pest control professional I’d really love to hear what you have to say. Even if you’re just a person perusing my little voice called a blog looking for bug answers I invite you to comment below with your opinion as well. ( I really do write about bugs too) I mean it’s easy to criticize when our elected leaders who spend $17,000.00 on a toilet seat, we all can agree on that right? Well everyone except the toilet seat salesman.

Guess what? I don’t really know if there is merit behind these projects or not so you can call me a hypocrite for not having all the answers BUT! This is the same government that has the tax payers footing the bill for a bridge in Alaska that will connect 50 people on one side to 8000 on the other. All to the tune of $941 million dollars! So call me whatever you wish but I am skeptical. Even though this tiny pittance of the huge ‘back bending’ (America aint broken yet) pork spending benefits my industry, I for one am mad as hell about the waste and fraud we as hard working Americans are having to endure. If you are too then let’s hear it, if you agree with the expenditures, then let’s hear that too. This is still a FREE country the last time I checked so why don’t we all speak up and let them know exactly what we think.

Picture 5 300x204 Government stimulus and pestsOn the lighter side, I think I know just why our so called leaders have this mindset. It starts from the top of course and by the looks of it, the President is just getting sick and tired of bugs. I’ve never seen a world leader so plagued with flies and vermin.

Hey DC! Better get used to it, if you keep screwing up this country and spending us into oblivion we’ll all be swatting flies to keep them out of our face because we won’t have any money left to do anything about it.

Just like they do in 3rd world countries, now won’t that be dandy?

It is amazing to me what we waste in pork barrel spending. Here are a few ideas that I think could improve things.
    1. Term Limits (2) that’s it period no long term pension or special health care program
    2. Tort Reform – no stupid lawsuits, like spilling coffee in your lap. If you are stupid enough to have coffee between your legs – well you get the idea.
    3. Flat tax – everybody pays the same – no 300 books of rules. Side benefit is that we get rid of the IRS
    4. Funny one – all restaurant bathroom doors must push to get out, I’m tired of washing my hands amd then having to pull the door open. I could go on forever….

#4 is a MUST, Keith for president!

I’m not sure if the politicians are listening anymore Keith. It’s amazing to me that they vote themselves raises, great benefits etc. like you said and are so out of touch, above the law and aren’t even lying about it anymore.
