Ode to the earwig and the WEB of lies

The misunderstood, feared and despised
six legged creature whose endured vicious lies

the garden is full of her furious wrath
she devours it all and all in her path

as summer moves on she move to your walls
hides in the flower pot but her hunger still calls

you see her while pruning or feeding the cat
you scream and you howl, when you lift the door mat

her pincers are massive, sharp as a knife

injects you with poison, endangers your life

fear takes your heart when you find on the web
this dangerous creature who’ll seek out your bed

hidden from daylight, she plans her assault
slips in the house through a concrete fault

aided by darkness she finds the beds post
climbs to the highest, to view her new host

needing to nest, attracted by breath
her maternal instincts, could cause your death

she crawls in your ears, bores in your brain
raises her family and drives you insane

she protects her eggs and fights for her young
cleaning them daily, using her tongue
as time moves on and the young leave the nest
they continue the cycle, new brains to infest

your brain has been altered and logic replaced
your earwig knowledge came from out there,

out there, in cyberspace.
