Get Your Autographed Tales Of The Route Book Today

I’ve never been accused of being a very good salesman. In fact, its almost been 30 years since I started my career and I think I’ve only amassed 5 total sales awards. Two plaques that were an after thought, a certificate with a fancy seal and two jackets that I guess were in lieu of commission because I was never paid what I was fully owed. (embezzlement sucks) But over-all I don’t think I faired too badly and although I squeaked by for many more years than I care to remember- my pest control job has been very good to me.

So here I am 3 decades later and what I still lack in sales skills I guess I make up in dogged determination. Nothing fancy and no real secret to success except that I get up everyday and go out to either get beat up again or to have some modicum of triumph. It’s been much the same with my little blog here. For years I typed away and literally got excited when my stats showed I got 17 clicks. In one day! Woo hoo! The great thing about this site is that as people began to tag along I would get a comment here or there that someone ‘liked’ my work and that a story or tip I shared was something they could relate to and use. Believe me, those quick remarks kept me going & I Thank You. This was especially true of the stories I wrote about some of the most fantastic/horrific/unbelievable things that have happened to me in my years of route work. So, somewhere down the line….

Here’s Where The lack Of Sales Skills Come In

I got the idea to put some of the most favorite stories in a book where folks could have them all in one place. So not wanting to be pushy and fly an annoying banner across the page. I quietly put a link on the side bar to offer it online and I also made up a little cards that went with each of my route customers receipts. The response was very surprising. What I found is that instead of lots of orders being processed through my online vendor I was instead inundated with requests for autographed copies. Wow! Me? Who would of thunk? To be honest- this is my first try at something like this & I was kind of apprhensive and not sure folks would like it. So, long story short, I have had to order copies, have them shipped to me, sign them and then ship or deliver them out myself. Believe me, this was & is a pleasant task and I am humbled and honored to do so. So with that, I decided to get a bulk order and just offer this in a more publicized way.

If you would like an autographed copy of my new book “Tales Of The Route” I will be more than happy to send you one. (or two-they make great gifts 😉 The bright yellow link below will take you to the order form and check out. There I just need you to be specific on who you want it signed for and where to send it and I will get it out to you.

I truly hope you enjoy your copy and wish to Thank all my readers for helping make this blog what it is and for ALL the support you’ve given me.

I have been eyeballing the little grey box on the right for a couple of months.  Every morning at work I click on my pest cemetery link on my tool bar and lurk around and I see it and think , Dang it! I gotta remember to order that book when I get home.

Then I get in home and spend the night running around the house in my underwear with a cold beer in my hand yelling “FREEDOM!!!” and it slips my mind.

I got 6 pack of craft beer and a bottle of muscadine wine from one of our local vineyard accounts…

    I’m going to try

  • Ok, So I just got the mind picture of you in a crawl space ‘doing the redneck dance’ out of my head and now you’ve replaced it with this? lololollollloll

Just remember to order it from the article so I can send it signed–my little link on the side just sends it straight out.

I had a half a bottle of wine left and it was insane hot last night and we don’t run our A/C  so, well you know how that plays out…

but, I am of sound mind this morning AND in A/C, so i gotz mine ordered.

If…if…my techs can keep from annoying me for 24 hours, i may be inclinde to buy some for them. they couldn’t seem to get out of the office before 9 today so it’s not looking good.

you should write a PCO professionalism for dummies book

  • Thank you so much- I am shipping out the TWO you ordered. I’ll consider the dummies book….. whenI can figure out how to get mine straightened out 🙂

I have to say I LOVE the book (but you knew i would though right?)

I gave my dad his on Friday, which was a mistake because he called me at 7:30 am saturday (usually my day to sleep in) to tell me how great it was.

also PCT may have got the jump on you about the chemical suppliers but, you have copyrighted proof that you beat fmc

    (yours is better)

    thanks again!

Sounds like a great book, Jerry!  It seems that pest control
technicians often encounter peculiar situations on the job. We recently featured
one of these odd moments in a guest blog post by Derek Roach, who works in marketing at
Pro Pacific Pest Control in Southern California: “The Naked Truth” –

  • Thanks so much– I’m glad both you & your Dad liked it– I might use that quote in my next ad…;)

  • It’s a great career for “never a dull day”.
