Both Sides Of The Mouth Of An Eco Warrior

I sometimes get grief from readers for my views on organic pest control and the ‘safety’ they so loudly claim. All the while I and others like me are told that we are ruining the earth with our toxic man made liquids of death. It’s not so much the difference of opinion that most frustrates me but the lack of willingness to accept facts and have an honest debate. That’s why when I find some research, claims or information that’s at least honestly viewed and given- well then I have to share it no matter who it’s from.

A reader sent me this link and I found the video fascinating. The speaker is known as the Health Ranger aka Mike Adams who embarked on this journey of perfect health when he had a serious health scare of his own. According to his bio Mike was in the pharmaceutical arena as a clinical trial tester so this and having acquired knowledge from reading 1000’s of books is what he brings to the table. I give Mike credit in that he is very entertaining and his subjects cover far more than just pesticides. His web site NaturalNews.com and articles are definitely worth the look. He’s got a lot of different subjects but since pest control is my passion I just have a small issue of what’s being presented.

The first video is about canola oil and I think you’ll be AMAZED at his take on this ‘all natural & green product when it’s used for pest control. I’ll give you my thoughts after you’ve watched it. (# it’s about 7 minutes long but you’ll get the gist in about 2 or 3)

Not what you were thinking of was it? I too was taken aback and to be honest I never thought about Canola oil as a pesticide and as a cooking/edible product with virtually no change in between roles. While I have some reservations on what was presented and am not convinced since there seemed to be a lack of facts to back up his claims, I still applaud the Health Ranger because most green supporters wouldn’t dare bring up anything negative that may harm their position or agenda.

Where Me & The Ranger Part Ways

Where I part ways with most eco warriors is when they begin with worst case scenarios as the norm and claims of devastating effects of pesticides without facts to back up their stories. Unfortunately as much as I enjoyed poking around Mikes site and reading his view points on political, religious and health related issues- this video simply soured my stomach.

In this presentation the Ranger is interviewing a supposed “expert” in the pest control industry but even a neophyte like myself caught so many false statements and claims that I lost count. I even question his claim of who his ‘mentor’ is just by looking at his age and how long he said he’s been in the business. It seems to me that he was able to pronounce many of the difficult chemical terms however he seems to be ignorant of the fact that all of the chemicals he claims are killing us have all been banned for years. Without any facts this video purports pesticides as dangerous and indiscriminate. That no pest control chemical is even regulated or tested- you know, the good ol buddy wink wink system that reigns supreme in the EPA. Ok Doc, how bout some facts- oh and while you’re at it, have you heard about all the new pesticides available? You know-Target Specific, modes of action that ONLY AFFECT INSECTS… Yea, you’re right, not as interesting as a global melt down because of man made chemicals. The only thing dangerous about this video was the lies and misinformation put out by this supposed Dr. and the only thing I can take away from this little adventure is that- it’s hard to understand someone when they speak out of both sides of their mouth.
