I'm not a fan of loose dusts and powders inorganic or not, that are purposely put out like that. 1/2 inch of 'anything' in a pan like that seems to be a bit much... it would fit right in with your safety warning you list at the end of your comment.

Used durapet stainless steel non skid pet food bowls under each foot of the bed with half inch of diatomaceous earth in each bowl. Dusted top of box springs with diatomaceous earth using a dollar store broom costing a dollar paying special attention to getting it into the ribbing around the top of the box spring unit. Found two dead bedbugs on the top of my mattress the next morning. Since then no bedbugs. D.E. is lethal to bedbugs and roaches and other crawling insects without the chemicals. No hazard to humans or pets unless a lot of it is inhaled.

Hi Penny,
Uh,Thanks for your critique. The intranet is a wonderful thing and hopefully you've searched the many many articles that give you the time bed bugs can last without feeding . You'd find anything from 4 months to your loudly stated 18 and up to 24. Hopefully you're able to share on these sites as well but I haven't seen any of your handy work yet. "Short order"might not be the word you'd choose but that's Ok. Also the title of my post and theme or idea may have been missed while you were busy fact checking. It's a simple 'tip' article that could mean the difference between a good nights sleep and a miserable one, nothing more. I think most folks with the unfortunate circumstance of bed bugs would appreciate any relief they could get.

Thanks for reading

Pretty good post, however, most bed bug infestations need professional intervention to be eliminated. Seriously.

Also, this post states, "By encasing what you can’t treat, you lock bugs out, of course, but you will also seal bed bugs in, and they will die in short order without feeding." If you consider 18 MONTHS short order, then I guess so....
