Hi There,
Earwigs love pools, dog bowls, slip and slides, animal water troughs, etc. It is a great place to stay protected , get moisture and build a nest chamber for eggs. So finding quite a few like you have is not abnormal. As to your question, although they have fairly sharp pincers, I doubt very highly they's be strong enough to puncture through. They can chew with their mouthparts but it just seems unlikely. That said- I do know of cases where termites will chew through the liner of above ground pools to get moisture to seep out. Even then, termites have very powerful jaws and the holes are really small pin pricks. I guess it's not out of the realm of possibilities but it's really not very likely.

Thanks for your question & reading my blog

Hi we bought a pool 4 weeks ago, and ever since we filled it up there are earwigs all over it and inside it, and it is the kind of pool where you air up the ring and it will rise when you are filling it up, well anyways one morning we woke up and the there was no water in the pool some how all the water drained out of it, and I went outside just now to see if there is a hole anywhere on the pool, but when I lift the pool up there were earwigs all under it, but the ring is still aired up, so my question is can earwigs pop a pool?

Niban baits are what I use. Check Home Depot or Lowes but I'm thinking you'll have to get it at a DIY pest control store or on line. Works great and is labeled for many areas--

It may because it's dry that the critters are on the move, make sure that you seal up the front doors and window areas as these areas will 'leak light' Earwigs can be attracted to lights and wander in this way.

I am wondering what brands of you recommend for bait? Or if I need to have a someone come into my home. For the last week or so I have been killing about 15- 20 earwigs a day in my home. Its been dry outside but I dont have planters or welcome mats by the door. We sprayed 5 days ago around the house also. Im sick of looking behind, under and around things for them. I dont think its damp in my home either. Please Help!

Hi eileen,

Since earwigs are basically scavengers it really doesn't matter. I just wouldn't clean them. I guess the smaller pieces might fair better for them to eat but that's not really the point of the trap. We just want to lure them in and then if something is to big for them to gnaw on oh well. Tuna works well too and even dried cereals. Use your imagination and stick with what's working for you-it might not be the same all over.

Thanks for reading
